As a family business, Busch is not accountable to public shareholders. But that doesn’t mean we answer only to ourselves. We strive to make a better world for everyone we work alongside – our customers, end users, employees, suppliers, co-operating partners, and local communities. We see it as our responsibility.

Built to last

Sustainable products, employment, and customer relationships are part of our core values. We focus on making our products environmentally compatible with sustainably produced components, such as water-based paint and reusable packaging.

It is no coincidence that service life of over 30 years is not uncommon for our products. Nor is it unusual that the child takes over the maintenance of a vacuum pump today that was built by their parent decades ago. Corporately, we think in generations, not in financial quarters.

Community matters

Busch is at home in the Black Forest and over 40 countries worldwide. The local DNA is firmly embedded in our corporate culture. We are global, but we act locally as a social authority and innovation driver in our regions.

We have made it our mission to support our many local communities worldwide. We do so in the form of both financial and volunteer help. This goes beyond business. In South Africa and India, for example, we are sponsoring the education of bright young children. We also provide the latest vacuum pump technology to universities to assist with research and training. We support both the Red Cross and fire and rescue services. We donate to local charities that are doing great work in their neighborhoods.

We see our responsibility not only in taking care of the planet but also in sustaining and growing the societies that inhabit it.

Saving resources

Energy-efficient, long-lasting products are good, but energy-efficient, long-lasting products produced sustainably are even better. Our products are designed and manufactured taking into account their impact on the environment. Each new product generation often saves up to 20% more energy versus the previous one. They are also quieter, more robust, and more user-friendly.

Reducing waste and the consumption of raw materials is standard practice. Busch sources electricity from renewable resources like wind or our solar panels. Leading in this area are our sales companies in Austria, Denmark, and Spain, which are gaining 100% of their energy from sustainable resources.

Our factories are also switching to energy-saving LED lights. We program our air conditioning systems according to the time of day and local climate and even use the waste heat from our machines to heat our offices and factories to emit less CO2.

Sustainability driver

Our vacuum solutions help our customers to become even greener. Our products are key components for essential sustainable industrial processes. We assist our partners worldwide in their ecological transformation. One way is frequency-controlled vacuum pumps that automatically adapt to demand and thus require significantly less energy. Intelligent heat recovery concepts are another. We also have efficient separation technology to make the best use of raw materials. We help our customers to produce sustainable fuel, give plastic bottles a second life, or strengthen the blades of wind turbines.

We help develop the technology of the future. For example, with our hydrogen recirculation blower, we are making a strong contribution to the emission-free mobility of the future. Our globally available service ensures that vacuum pumps stay locally for repairs. We do all of this to decrease greenhouse gas.

World without hunger

Our company history began with a sustainable idea. Dr. Karl and Ayhan Busch had the vision of a world without hunger, with healthy, non-perishable foodstuffs for all people and no food waste.

To achieve this, they developed the first vacuum pump for vacuum packaging of food. Under vacuum, food is preserved longer and stays fresh and nutritious. The rest is history. Today, in grocery stores around the world, you can see that their sustainable idea has prevailed. And as the market leader, we have held the largest share in this area ever since. We contribute to providing healthier food to more people and fighting malnutrition and hunger in the world. Feeding the world is one of the biggest challenges of our time. And we are doing our part.
