Order to Life Aid Association

Lebenshilfe – Life Aid is the name of a German association that has set itself the task of helping people with disabilities to participate in life on an equal footing. Of course, this also includes earning their own income through their own work. That is why Lebenshilfe offers jobs in its workshops. Our company places orders with one of them.
Lebenshilfe is a nationwide association. It was founded in 1958 to represent the interests of people with mental disabilities and their families. Its goal: a self-determined life with equal rights. The organization has local chapters all over the country, such as Lebenshilfe Lörrach near our headquarters. It runs two workshops, a dormitory, a store for homemade goods and an inclusive* restaurant. Employees of the packaging workshop of Lebenshilfe Lörrach stuck our stickers on round about 400 honey jars, which were given away to Maulburg colleagues at our spring festival. The honey was locally produced.
So far we have commissioned Lebenshilfe three times. Since they do such a good job, we will place more orders with them in the future. By buying the honey, we want to do something good for the environment in our region and support the Schopfheim Beekeepers' Association.
Anja Möller, Marketing Controlling and Planning Expert
Beekeeping is extremely important because the number of wild insects has been declining for years. Around 70 percent of the food crops grown worldwide and 35 percent of global food production depend on pollination of flowering plants. Beekeeping not only makes an indispensable contribution to securing the food supply, but also to preserving ecosystems and biodiversity.
Domenico Dormio, Head of Production at the packaging workshop of Lebenshilfe Lörrach, reports on the changed situation due to Corona:
Most of our customers are companies. Unfortunately, many of them have suffered sales losses because of Corona. Therefore, we also had less to do during this time. We are very happy about this order and hope that more will follow.
Domenico Dormio, Head of Production
* Inclusion is a human right enshrined in the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. According to the concept of inclusion, people with and without disabilities should work and learn together. It is based on the appreciation and recognition of diversity.
