Girls’ Day 2022
16 schoolgirls between 12 and 15 years of age visited our headquarters in Maulburg, Germany, on Girls’ Day this year to gain an insight into technical professions.
After the introduction of the participants, a company presentation, a safety briefing and a plant tour, the girls were divided into groups of four in different departments: assembly, training workshop, systems building, and repair workshop. On site, a supervisor was available for each girl, under whose guidance they worked independently.
My daughter was thrilled. She told the whole family about Girls’ Day. She was particularly proud that she was allowed to assemble a vacuum pump herself. I had the feeling that this day gave her a first idea of what she herself could do professionally in the future.
Women are underrepresented in technical professions in Germany. Through the nationwide Girls’ Day, girls should get to know male-dominated jobs. Our company has been engaged in this initiative since 2013 to help interest girls in technical careers.
