Busch Participants in Charity Run Double After Last Year’s Success

Fourteen employees of Busch Vacuum Solutions took part in the “Wiesentäler Wasserlauf” (run along the river Wiese) at the weekend. With their commitment, they support the construction of wells and water supplies in Cameroon, as Busch will donate for every kilometer covered.

Due to snow and unsafe track conditions, the 55-kilometer run started this year 4 kilometers below the source of the river Wiese on the Feldberg, one of the highest mountains in Germany. The route covered six more stages before reaching Basel in Switzerland, where the Wiese meets the Rhine. The participants started their trek at 8 am with temperatures around 3 °C. They descended throughout the day and by 4 pm, they reached sunny Basel, greeted by a balmy 20 °C.

In total, the Busch employees covered 254 kilometers and for each of these, the company will donate to a well construction project in Dikome, Cameroon, in the west of Africa. Thanks to this project, more than 3,000 people have already been supplied with clean water.

The well construction project is an initiative of the Schopfheim-based association Dikome-Kamerun. The region around the 2,000-inhabitant village of Dikome receives structural support through a partnership with the city of Schopfheim, near the headquarters of the Busch Group.
