It all began with a vision: in 1963 Dr. Karl Busch and his wife Ayhan Busch turned their idea of simpler, more efficient and user-friendly industrial vacuum technology into reality.
Since then, their vision has given rise to many innovative products which help make our daily lives easier and more agreeable. The first Busch vacuum pump revolutionised the packaging market – its high performance and compact size made it ideal for packaging food under vacuum or modified atmosphere. This packaging technique decreased the amount of food lost to spoilage, and increased the variety of food available. The new packaging allowed many people to buy the items they wanted for the first time.
The continuous development of vacuum technology by Busch has influenced many other innovations: examples may be found in the semiconductor and plastics industries, and in flat screen production. The objective of all this development work was – and still is – to offer our customers optimal solutions, both technically and economically. The close working relationship we have with our customers is the key to our success, as without innovative and future-oriented clients many crucial developments would not have been possible.
The Busch family has consequently decided to recognise companies and individuals who have contributed vacuum technology innovations of particular value to mankind and the environment. The first "Busch Vacuum Innovation Award" was presented in 2013, at the company's 50th anniversary celebrations
