New Park Opens at Busch Headquarters

At Busch headquarters in Maulburg, a 6,700 m2 area has been turned into a garden for employees. At the opening ceremony, the newly completed Central Park received its first visitors.

Under blue skies and surrounded by greenery, the Busch family cut through a ribbon and declared the new park officially open. During her speech, Co-Owner and Co-CEO Ayla Busch thanked everyone involved in bringing the garden to life. She reflected on how she used to enjoy taking care of her garden with her father, Dr Karl Busch, and how she hopes this park can give those same feelings of peace in nature to everyone who visits it.

“We are delighted to unveil the Central Park, a project that reflects our passion for sustainability and our care for our employees’ well-being. This park is not just a green space, but a symbol of our commitment to fostering a nurturing and inspiring workplace. This park is for you, and we hope it becomes a place where everyone can relax and find inspiration,” she continued.

With the park now open, the employees could finally explore the new space they saw taking shape for the first time. The celebration was rounded off with a wide variety of food and drinks that they enjoyed together in the summery weather.

The employees as well as the customers and visitors of Busch now have a pleasant place to spend breaks, hold events, and even conduct outdoor meetings when the weather is nice. The 6,700 m2 area is almost as big as a soccer pitch. It is at the heart of the Busch headquarters and has been designed to create a landscape of small hills and open spaces, with a mixture of sunny spots and shady, wisteria-covered pergolas. Natural stone seating is scattered throughout the park, with benches and lighting planned for the next phase.

Sustainability and protecting the environment are topics of great importance to Busch and were also a major focus while creating the park. Almost 100 different species of perennials and 76 species of shrub have been planted throughout the park so far, amounting to a total of 28,000 individual specimens. The plants have been carefully chosen to harmonize well, providing variation in colors, heights, and blooming times. The variety also helps the biodiversity of the site, offering a new habitat for various insects, birds and animals. To conserve fresh water supplies, the park will be irrigated using rainwater. This is collected from the roof of one of the production halls via its drainage system and stored in an underground tank beneath the garden. The tank has a capacity of 100 m3 and is connected to a sprinkler system.
