World’s Largest Relay Race

It has been taking place in Norway for 100 years: the legendary Holmenkollstafetten sports event. This year, 14 employees of Busch Vacuum Solutions participated in the world’s largest relay race. In addition, our branch donated 10,000 Norwegian kroner (around 850 Euro) to an organization that promotes mental health in the Scandinavian country.

Almost 60,000 runners took part in 3,932 teams to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the sports event – a new record for Holmenkollstafetten. To make the event possible for 60,000 participants, the organizers offered 15 routes of different lengths and terrain conditions. Each team had its own time slot. Teamwork and fun were what mattered most.
Just like at work, our participation was about working hand in hand as a team. After the run, we celebrated with beaming faces and tired legs – a great day and a great performance by our team.

The Busch Employees performed as one team. Since their group consisted of 13 men and only one woman, they were assigned to the male team category. In one hour and 22 minutes, they covered a distance of 18,450 meters, almost running a half marathon. This put them in 1178th place out of a total of 3932 teams, and 117th place in their category.
Since running is not only good for the body but also helps mental well-being, Busch Norway donated to “Mental Helse” for the occasion. The nationwide organization for people with mental health problems and their families works for treatment, transparency, and better prevention.
