Girls’ Day 2024
Twelve schoolgirls between 12 and 14 years of age visited the headquarters of Busch Vacuum Solutions in Maulburg, Germany, on Girls’ Day this year to gain insight into technical professions.
After the introduction of the participants, a company presentation, a safety briefing, and a factory tour, the girls were divided into groups of four and allocated to different departments: assembly, training workshop, and systems building. There, they dove into the fascinating world of vacuum and, among other things, observed experiments with vacuum or assembled a vacuum pump themselves. The experts from Busch were on hand as supervisors to share their knowledge, ensuring the girls gained valuable insights into vacuum technology.
We are delighted that the twelve places were filled quickly. This demonstrates a significant interest in technical professions among girls. Girls’ Day is not only a day on which girls can explore their interests and skills, but also an opportunity to discover the variety of opportunities and professional fields available to them.
Women are underrepresented in technical professions in Germany. Through the nationwide Girls’ Day, girls have the opportunity to explore traditionally male-dominated jobs. Busch has been a part of this initiative since 2013 to help interest girls in technical careers.
