Solar Power Plant at Busch in Chevenez

Ateliers Busch built a solar plant in 2023. Since May 2024 the company can now cover almost 11% of its electrical power requirements itself.

The new solar system consists of 2,500 photovoltaic solar modules that cover 4,833 m2 of the company’s roof. It generates around 1,000,000 kWh in one year, corresponding to the annual consumption of 200 four-person households. In doing so, Ateliers Busch saves several hundred tons of CO2 per year.

“In 2020, we carried out an audit to systematize our sustainability measures, particularly in the energy sector. In 2022, we then concluded a target agreement with the Canton of Jura and initiated around 50 measures to minimize our energy consumption and conserve resources,” tells Karine Bailly, Head of Maintenance and Infrastructure at Ateliers Busch.

“These measures are coordinated by a dedicated, highly motivated ‘BeGreen’ working group of volunteers who are active in the company,” explains Frédéric Stoven, Head of HR and Communication at Ateliers Busch.

One of the company’s targets is to reduce its electricity consumption by 20% until 2030. With the new photovoltaic system, Ateliers Busch has taken a big step towards this goal by producing part of its own electricity in an environmentally friendly way.
