Charity Soccer Tournament

The 14th Thommy Cup recently took place in Lörrach, Germany: It was opened by the football team from Busch Vacuum Solutions and the team from SC Freibad. At the end of the day, 3,600 Euro were raised for the non-profit organization "streetkickers39", which offers sports lessons to primary school kids in Lörrach.

Busch has been the main sponsor of the tournament since 2015, with the proceeds going to a different social project every year. The company promotes the event annually with a total of 1,600 Euro. “We are very grateful that Busch Vacuum Solutions has been our main sponsor for so many years and is once again supporting the tournament with a generous donation,” emphasizes co-organizer Huy Hoang Dang.

This year, the money raised from the event went to the non-profit organization “streetkickers39”, which aims to give children the joy of exercise through soccer. The initiators of “streetkickers39”, which is under the patronage of Lörrach’s mayor, want to promote the physical, mental and social development of children. To this end, the initiators run sports lessons at primary schools. The money collected this year will enable the organization to purchase new training materials.

The Thommy Cup has been organized by the players of the hobby team SC Freibad since 2007. Only in 2020 and 2021 it had to be canceled because of COVID-19. This year, a total of twelve recreational soccer teams took part in the tournament, among others SC Freibad, “streetkickers39” and Busch.

“Everything was very fair, and everyone had fun and enjoyed the event. For the first time, it was like before COVID-19. The players brought their families, and the hall was filled with young and old,” said a delighted Huy Hoang Dang.

The competition is dedicated to a friend of the SC Freibad players who passed away in 2006. His friends created the charity event in his honor to continue his social commitment.
