Aeration of Biofilters

Biofiltration is a biological water treatment process frequently used in fish farming facilities.
The process is carried out by naturally occurring bacteria in two stages: aerobic bacteria are first used to convert ammonia to nitrites, other bacteria then convert the nitrites to nitrates. Nitrates are much less toxic, and are tolerated in moderate quantities by most species of fish. The aerobic bacteria in the biofilter are supplied with air by a blower or compressor.

Tyr rotary lobe and Samos side channel blowers are ideally suited to this application, as they combine reliability with precise delivery.
